Meeting to discuss Animal Shelter location scheduled

The Board of Selectmen in collaboration with the Milton Animal League have scheduled a meeting for January 23, 2014 @ 7:00pm at the Council on Aging to discuss the location of a new facility for the Milton Animal League. The parcel under consideration is located off the former landfill access road off Randolph Avenue.

This is the 2nd of several meetings to discuss the issue. Additional dates will become available when they are confirmed.

Members of Milton Committee Against Aviation Impact (MCAAI), met with Patrick Lally, aide to Senator Ed Markey on January 10 to discuss concerns about excessive aircraft traffic over Milton. Newly elected Boston City Councilor Tim McCarthy, who represents the Hyde Park district of Boston, that is impacted by the same flight routes., also attended the meeting.

Brief school bits: Speech requirement, 2 personnel restored

Several items and issues were discussed at last week’s School Committee meeting in addition to the teacher’s contract and cuts required to meet a budget request from the Warrant Committee. These include but were not limited to a discussion of including speech as a requirement for graduation, scheduled info night of kindergarten and first grade, and a restoration of personnel through the end of the fiscal year.

Hon. Robert H. Quinn of Milton

We are sorry to report that the Honorable Robert H. Quinn has passed away. He was a former Attorney General of the Commonwealth and champion of the Quinn bill among many other accomplishments. You can find his death notice after the jump (Click “read more”) You can find the Globe obituary here.

Teen Friday Flicks

Teen Friday Flick – Friday January 31, 2014, 3pm – 5pm

Once a month, an after school movie is shown in the library for teens. Four movie choices have been posted on Facebook, Tumblr, and at the library in the teen room.
