The Board of Selectmen will be meeting on Saturday, January 11th at the office of Tom Hurley in Quincy (36 Miller Stile Road) at 9:00am. The agenda is discussion of Town Administrator goals and objectives.
Ski Team Collects ‘Cans for Cats’
The next Milton High School Boosters “Cans for Cats” can & bottle recycling drive will be held on Saturday, January 11th, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Milton High School. The girls and boys ski team will be at the front entrance of the high school, 25 Gile Road, to collect your 5 cent cans and bottles to redeem them for cash. All funds earned will support their program. Please stop by and support your Wildcats with your can donations. Go Wildcats!
Local historian Sammarco’s book “Lost Boston” to be published
Lost Boston by Anthony M. Sammarco will be released on May 1, 2014 by Anova Books in London.
Lost Boston is a nostalgic journey back in time. From the 1870s up to the present day, sixty eight different losses are represented here, including schools, churches, theaters, grand mansions, dockyards, racetracks, parks, stores, hotels, offices, and factories.
DPW Notice: Christmas Tree Collection Week
Notice from the Milton DPW
Christmas tree collections will start on Monday January 13 – Friday January 17, 2014. Please place bare trees to be collected out on your regular collection day from January 13 till January 17, 2014.
Remove stand and all decorations. Do not put in a plastic bag. Place bare trees at the curb by 7am on collection day. We will only be collecting trees during this week only so please remember to have them out on time.

Why is the Town working on a new Master Plan?
There are four big reasons:
- Hall of Famer Yogi Berra advised: “If you don’t know where you are going, you might wind up somewhere else.”
- Milton wishes to identify new net property tax revenue sources, to sustain its quality life style.
- The Master Plan is required by law.
MPL to host Teen Board Game Night
Come join us for Teen Board Game Night on Thursday January 23, 2014 from 6pm – 8pm for an evening filled with various board games, pizza and prizes! Sen Joyce Announces Grant For Beth Israel – Milton
Senator Brian A. Joyce today announced that the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission (HPC) has awarded Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital – Milton a total of $261,200 to enhance the delivery of efficient, effective health care in the communities it serves. Joyce, who met with the executive director of the Health Policy Commission and testified to the commission on behalf of the grant,
Milton Mums group schedules meet ups
Milton Mums, has arranged two dates for their first meet-ups (to accommodate working and stay home mothers and children). Milton Mums seeks to bring together those interested as part of a support network for friendship and support, but also for resource-sharing, selling used items, sharing nanny information, day-care insights, and activities. If you are inclined to go paddling about the Neponset you may want to wear an orange vest. According to the Chief of Police there are duck hunters out on the water and they are not the only ones looking to bag wildlife. Evidently, Milton is home to some of the largest bucks in the state. Professional bow hunters are roaming large tracts of private land in the search of prize deer.
Enjoy the glow of the Winterfire at the Wakefield Estate January 11
The Wakefield Estate will host its 4th annual Winterfire this Saturday, January 11, from 5:00 – 7:00pm. This annual event combines lightscape with landscape to highlight many of the estate’s signature trees and garden features against a deep mid-winter sky. After a garden stroll, join others for some hot chocolate and a roast a hot dog on an open fire. This is a fun, family-friendly event.
