Milton High School Athletic Hall of Fame Seeking Nominations

The Milton High School Athletic Hall of Fame is actively seeking nomination applications for the 2014 class of inductees. The sixth induction ceremony is scheduled for November 1st, 2014.

There are four categories of inductees: Athletes, Teams, Coaches and Friends/Supporters.

Children’s Book Sale @ Friends of the Library Book Shop 3/15-3/29

A special sale of gently used books for children of all ages takes place at the Friends of the Milton Public Library Book Shop, 476 Canton Avenue, for two weeks starting Saturday, March 15.  Board books, picture books, chapter books in fiction and nonfiction, and young adult selections, are sale priced at 4 for $1 (usually 2 for $1.)

Key committees get appointments

Two important town committees that have been dormant can now begin to resume their respective missions. The Town Government Study Committee will be meeting this evening for the first time in months. At the fall town meeting last October an article was passed that authorized the Town Moderator to make 5 appointments of the 9 members. The Board of Selectmen make 4. 

Letter: Parking gridlock on Gile Road

To the Editor:

It happens at high school concerts (like last night). And town meetings. And open house nights. And football games. And dozens of other “big” events at Milton High School.

People park on Gile Road, on both sides, and leave very limited room for traffic to flow in both directions. Last night, we didn’t need Chris Christie to create some traffic problems, we did it to ourselves.

Tragedy and trauma at Town Hall

Death happens everyday. But it is never routine. When a manager of Milton Cab collapsed and died at town hall during a  routine meeting of the Board of Selectmen it was a shock and tragedy. There are the man’s family and friends burdened with a sorrow that has come too soon and those who witnessed an event the memory of which they most likely would rather forget.

Joyce Announces Civil War Preservation Grant Opportunity

Senator Brian A. Joyce has announced the availability of matching funds for the preservation of historic objects, sites, and document collections that are significant to the history of the Civil War. The Massachusetts Sesquicentennial Commission of the Civil War is accepting applications until April 1, 2014.

Team Hoyt Visits Collicot Elementary School
