Three issues were discussed at last night’s Planning Board meeting:

  • The special permit to develop 643-645 Brush Hill Road was withdrawn. The developer did not appear but a letter was read into the record in which he expressed his desire to withdraw the permit. No specific reasons were given.

Labyrinth Walk at East Congregational Church

East Congregational Church, UCC, 610 Adams Street, Milton, will present a Labyrinth Walk on Tuesday evening, September 27. All are welcome to attend this event, and to learn about the practice of meditative walking.

Milton High field hockey falls to Walpole

The Milton High field hockey team couldn’t get its offense moving against Bay State Conference heavyweight Walpole on Thursday as the Wildcats dropped their third straight game, 6-0. (Red the full story here.)

Milton MCAS scores shine

Wicked Local Milton reports that  82% of Massachusetts schools did not meet federal requirements to boost student MCAS scores – but Milton did. State officials recognized 14 local schools for their MCAS performance. Three of them are in Milton: Tucker, Collicot, and Glover.

Forbes House kicks off 2nd season of docent training

The Forbes House Museum will begin its second season of docent training on Thursday, 22 September 2011 at 1pm. The meeting, which will include a gallery lesson on China Trade merchant, Thomas Tunno Forbes (1802- 1829), is open to anyone considering a position as tour guide, gallery attendant, greeter for special events, and/or general office and reception assistant.

West Nile Virus detected in Milton mosquitoes

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) announced today that West Nile virus (WNV)has been detected in mosquitoes collected from Milton.
To date, over 250 mosquito samples have tested positive for WNV in Massachusetts this year. This includes mosquitoes found in the surrounding communities of Boston, Dedham, Norwood, Quincy, Randolph, Westwood, and Weymouth.

Senate Democratic hopefuls converge on Milton

They are an interesting group. One has literally walked around the state (657 miles), another is a minister who battled and beat hemophilia. They are all Democrats running for the opporunity to challenge Scott Brown and with the exception of Elizabeth Warren who just recently entered the race, they were all present at a backyard in Milton to speak to why they are in it and how they hope to win it.
