MILTON RESIDENTS-late last week we have a couple of breaks in the Eliot St. neighborhood. In one instance a resident watched the suspect entered the back yard to the rear of the home to make entry. PLEASE, you are our partners in this mission. If you see someone suspicious call 911 right away. Thanks.
A police officer stopped by the other day to chat with a group of neighbors on Avalon Road. There had been break ins on Eliot, Oak and Capen Streets.These occurred late last week.
Yesterday a letter among concerned residents of the area was circulated informing them of the robberies and asking they BE VIGILANT. Get to know your neighbors if you do not already.

Over 150 people gathered at the Gazebo in front of Milton Town Hall for a 9/11 observance.

Jim Carmody has had a front-row seat for the transformation of the South Boston waterfront.
The Milton resident – and Dorchester native – became general manager of the Seaport Boston Hotel and World Trade Center in 2004, after an 11-year stint at Tufts-New England Medical Center, where he supervised hospitality services and real estate operations. (Read the full story here.)
This weekend most of America will observe the 10th Anniversary of the September 11 attacks with tributes and memorial services.
Also this weekend there was another 10 year observance in Milton as over 139 runners gathered in Cunningham Park to pay tribute to Mary “Mema” Gardiner, with a run. (Read the full story here.)
There are a million stories. This is one.
The day was very much like today. The air crisp, the sky a brilliant blue, and the water sparkling and bright.
I boarded the ferry from Rowes Wharf to the airport. I was meeting two colleagues for dinner at one of the airport hotels.
We greeted each other warmly. These were difficult times for our business, and we felt a kinship that can come when facing a tough struggle together. The dinner was a nice respite. The following day we would be flying to Los Angeles.
Milton residents Jeff Mullan and Alyce Lee were recently appointed to the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees by Governor Duval Patrick. Mr. Mullan recently stepped down as the head of the Department of Transportation. Ms. Lee is vice chairman of the Boston Medical Center board of trustees. The first order of business is not always the most interesting order of business and so it was last night at the Planning Board. It was the final order of business, a discussion of St. Elizabeth’s, that generated the most interest.
