Whoops – Newton student, Westwood principal catch MCAS error

Massachusetts education officials informed school districts yesterday that MCAS math scores for 70,000 10th-graders were reported incorrectly, two days after a Westwood High School principal and a Newton North High School student informed the state of an error. (Read the full story here.)

Milton Rotary Youth Programs Informational Meeting

Senator Brian Joyce welcomes MHS students to state house

On Thursday, September 15th, Senator Brian A. Joyce welcomed students from Milton High School. The students were nominated by their teachers to attend the James Otis Lecture, held at the State House. Senator Joyce introduced the group on the Senate floor during formal session debate.

Flu Season is Right Around the Corner – Get Vaccinated Today!

The following comes from the MA Department of Health. In the past there have been flu clinics here in Milton at the Council on Aging, Fuller, Town Hall, and other locations. A schedule for this year has not yet been made available.

Don’t let the warm temperatures fool you – flu season will be here before you know it. The best way to protect against influenza is to get a flu vaccine before the season starts.  This is true even if you were vaccinated last season.  Health experts at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommend that everyone 6 months of age and older receive a flu vaccine every year. Milton’s Rich Hill bouncing back

While the Red Sox have been on the road this season, Rich Hill has been on the mend. The Red Sox reliever, who underwent Tommy John surgery on July 9 has remained in Boston getting his arm back in pitching shape. With the club in New York and moving on to Baltimore, he’s taking the next step toward returning by spring training. (Read the full story here.)
