Tucker goes solar

The Tucker School which is an Energy Star Award winning school is the most recent school in town to install solar panels on its roof. They are being installed by the Broadway Electric Company, which just finished  the installation of installing 78 photovoltaic (e.g. solar) panels. The energy savings will be significant. School officials estimate the panels to produce 22,789 kilo Watt hours of electricity or about 5% of the buildings Fiscal Year 2011 consumption.

State finds probable cause in Milton fire deputy’s age discrimination claim

The Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination has found probable cause to support a claim by Milton Deputy Fire Chief John P. Foley that the town denied him a position as chief because of his age.  (Read the full story here.)

In 2009, Senior Deputy Fire Chief John P. Foley Jr. was the odd man out when selectmen chose Deputy Chief John Grant Jr. to head the department.

An 18-month investigation by the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination has found probable cause that his age played a role in Foley being rejected for the chief’s job. He was 59 at the time. (Read the full story here.)

Yesterday evening at about twenty to seven just after dark, had you been standing on that bit of a beach at Turner’s pond and looking across the water toward the southeast, you would have seen quite something.

I’ve never had sex on the moon, but . . .

. . . last night I did get to hear from a guy who wrote a book about it. Actually, the book, Sex on the Moon, is about a man who stole moon rocks from NASA in order to provide his girlfriend with an extraterrestrial experience. The book is by Ben Mezrich, and he was the featured speaker at last night’s Literary Gala hosted by the Milton Library Foundation. It was a sensational evening in every respect.

Redistricting proposal – Milton affected?

The state released the proposed redistricting maps for state representatives late yesterday afternoon. It’s confusing; but it appears that Ms. Dorcena Forry will no longer be representing Milton’s Precinct 3. Note that would be the new Precinct 3. Precinct 3 is now part of Representative Timilty’s district, the 7th Norfolk District.
