Zippity Do (or Don’t) Da?

By Judy Lehrer Jacobs / Friends of the Blue Hills

A proposal to build a canopy tour (or zip line) in Quincy Quarries provides few details; raises questions.

Al Endriunas of Easton was looking for a site to build a ‘canopy tour’ for families and youth groups. Young and old would climb into a harness attached to a wire above them and slide through the air, enjoying great views and, as he says, learning a ‘story.’

Artspace Milton displays student art

from Wicked Local Milton

Twelve schools from across Milton displayed some of their best pieces at the Milton Public Library on Sunday for the Milton Student Art Show Reception.

Artspace Milton sponsored the event as a way to allow students from every school in Milton, both public and private, to display their work. (Read the full story here.)

Great music this week

Milton High is hosting two concerts this week. You can hear the MHS band, strings, and chorus on Tuesday evening at 7:00 at the Winchester Auditorium. They will be followed on Wednesday and Thursday by concerts from music ensembles from the Pierce Middle School, also at Winchester Auditorium at 7:00.

What to do? What to do? Lots of things!

Ths is a great week end for holdiay happenings and other events. Today, for example, Milton Hospital is holding a bazaar, the Forbes House is holding an open house featuring a calliope, there is a holiday jazz concert at the library, Temple Shalom is kicking off their film series with a screening tonight of The Visitor (great movie). And tomorrow Artspace Milton is holding a opening reception at library for first ever town wide art show featuring art from all of 12 Milton schools, public and private.

Have fun!

Notice from the MWRA

Dear Neighbor,

Yesterday, Thursday, December 8, 2011, the MWRA, began the process of bringing into service some of the newly installed and newly rehabilitated water pipes in the area of Bakers Court in Dorchester and Milton Village. While this operation was being conducted, a sudden flow reversal in the water pipe caused some discolored water in the Town of Milton’s water mains. Some residents of East Milton may notice cloudy water coming out of their taps.

Notice: MWRA work has caused discolored water in Milton

Notice from the DPW
The MWRA work in Dorchester/Lower Mills has created discolored water in the Town of Milton.

If discolored water does occur, it will result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. While it is still safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Therefore, residents near this location should check water clarity before washing any white or lighter colored laundry during this period of work.
