The Planning Board has added a document, Zoning Matrix, revised 2.21.12, to the collection of materials related to the development of 131 Eliot Street. It provides a useful snapshot of the current status of the project from the Planning Board’s perspective; what requirements and issues have been resolved and questions and concerns that remain to be addressed.
The Milton election season just became a lot more interesting. Denis Keohane, current Vice-chair of the School Committee, has taken out nomination papers to be a candidate for the Board of Selectmen. Assuming he obtains the requisite number of signatures, he will be challenging the incumbent, John Michael Shields.
Two more residents, Mike Joyce (Precinct 6) and Steven Cloonan (Precinct 7), have taken out nomination papers to be candidates for Town Clerk, a seat recently vacated by James Mullen. Mullen had been Town Clerk for over 30 years. His departure seems to be creating a bit of a horse race.
The Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center was full of action this past week end with the MIAA state meet. This shot of a Wildcat hurdling is by Roy Chambers. You can find more of Roy’s work here.
Longtime Town Clerk and Milton institution James Mullen announced his resignation today. Mullen has served the town for decades in a variety of capacities including School Committee member, Town Meeting Member and Selectmen. But it is as Town Clerk that he is best known. Today will be his last day.
As of this moment two residents have taken out nomination papers for Town Clerk: Marion McEttrick and Susan Galvin. This follows the news earlier today that James Mullen would not be actively seeking re-election.
Ms. McEttrick, recently a member of the Milton Board of Selectmen (she stepped down from the Board last year) is from Precinct 1. Ms. Galvin is from Precint 7.

There is a nexus beween the attackers and residents of the apartment. Investigators have recovered a weapon and this investigation continues. There is no need for residents of this neighborhood to be alarmed.

Marion McEttrick sat in for a portion of the last meeting of the Board of Selectmen. Together with Selectman Sweeney they apprised those in attendance of a recent meeting the two of them had with the Attorney General’s office regarding the Stoughton land. They wanted to inform AG’s office of the status of discussions regarding the property and sought some guidance.
Town Moderator Brian Walsh has asked Michael Joyce and Mary McNamara to the Government Review Committee. At the January 30th Special Town Meeting the Board of Selectmen announced that they had expanded the committee they had formed to include two appointments by the Town Moderator.
