Two more residents, Mike Joyce (Precinct 6) and Steven Cloonan (Precinct 7), have taken out nomination papers to be candidates for Town Clerk, a seat recently vacated by James Mullen. Mullen had been Town Clerk for over 30 years. His departure seems to be creating a bit of a horse race.
Joyce and Cloonan join past Selectman Marion McEttrick and Susan Galvin, who currently works in the Clerk’s office, as possible candidates. All need to obtain signatures from registered voters and have those approved by the Clerk’s office to appear on the ballot.
The Board of Selectmen are meeting tomorrow night and are expected to appoint Fred Frithsen as interim Town Clerk. Mr. Frithsen was the Town Clerk in Rockland for 37 years.
