Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton (BID-Milton), formerly Milton Hospital, which provides community-based health care, proudly announces the addition of Huy Linh Vu, M.D., an internist and pediatrician with strong ties to the local Vietnamese community, to the BID-Milton medical staff.
Milton’s Derek Curley and Brian Higgins found the net and Jay Hankard protected his, making 26 saves Thursday night as Milton prevailed over Braintree. The Wildcats will face Natick on Sunday in the sectional final.

Firefighters are battling a three-alarm house fire at 589 Adams Street in Milton.

Nomination papers were due at the Town Clerk’s office at 5:00 yesterday afternoon and several key offices are going to be contested. The big surprise is for a seat on the Planning Board. Pete Jackson, the incumbent up for re-election, did not turn in his nomination papers; but two candidates did: Michael Kelly of Whittier Road and Cheryl Tougias of Canton Ave. Both live in Precinct 9 which includes the Governor Stoughton property.

Marion V. McEttrick, former Milton selectman, wants to serve Milton’s residents as town clerk. She seeks to replace James G. Mullen, Jr. who has retired. In the announcement of her candidacy for town clerk she made the following statement:
I am running for town clerk to bring energy and commitment to that key office. Most importantly I will be a town clerk who is politically independent and has a proven record of service to Milton residents. I believe that my twelve years as selectman and other town service qualify me for the job.

Provisional members of the Milton Garden Club are completing a survey to identify the trees on the Forbes House Museum property. Through the guidance of MGC past president Sandy Downes, Ruth Culleton, Joan Faulkner, and Mary McLaughlin hope to identify the common name for each tree and its Latin name, species, and family.

Regarding the March 1 story “Man shot in Milton area with history of violence”: Although it described “incidents” dating back to 2009, describing our neighborhood as having a “history of violence” was an insult to every Milton resident, especially those of us who live in the Tucker School neighborhood.
