Milton resident James May promoted to Director of Development of Elizabeth Stone House

The Elizabeth Stone House (ESH) of Roxbury recently announced that Milton, Mass., resident James (Jim) May has been promoted to director of development.

The ESH is a family shelter and community support center for families who are survivors of domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues and homelessness. (Read the full story here.)

Yesteday morning was an exciting morning at Pierce Middle School — one of only 2% of the 101,000 schools in the nation to receive an award of distinction through their participation in the HealthierUS School Challenge. This program to promote fitness and health is part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move  campaign and sponsored by the USDA. A bevy of officials from the US Senate to the local school committee were on hand to commend the Pierce community and celebrate their acheivement.

Selectmen release “Harshbarger” report on matters involving MPD

On April 13, 2011, the Board of Selectmen (BOS) sent a letter to Chief Wells informing him that they had retained former Attorney General Scott Harshbarger, Senior Counsel at Proskauer Rose LLP, to review 4 matters involving the Milton Police Department. Mr. Harshbarger submitted a memo reporting his findings on June 10, 2011. Last Thursday, the Selectmen voted in executive session to release the resulting report and related documents to the public. The following summary of the issues involved and Mr. Harshbarger’s findings are based on those documents.
