10346292_628623807224891_1416472783444684780_nLast Saturday the weather cooperated just long enough for Mayfest 2014, an event on the grounds of the Wakefield Estate that celebrated Mother Earth and mothers everywhere. Music, art activities, art from recycled materials, educational displays, and an array of banners created from recycled bags were all part of a wonderful day.

Earth Day at St. Michael’s

On May 4, 2014, St. Michael’s parishioners celebrated Earth Day by gathering together and educating young people on environmental protection and responsibility. Marilyn Cheney, St. Michael’s Director of Children’s Education, and parishioner Barb Phinney performed a skit for young parishioners about littering and the overuse of plastic.

Teen Friday Flicks

Friday June 6, 2014, 3pm – 5pm Teen Friday Flicks

Once a month, an after school movie is shown in the library for teens. Movie choices have been posted on Facebook, Tumblr, and at the library in the teen room.

Another Successful Year for MPS, MPL Collaboration

Two local librarians – one from the public schools and one from the public library – have been collaborating on a special project which aims to educate students about the vast resources available to them at the Milton Public Library and its website.

MHS Boosters 36th Annual Varsity Letter Banquet

The 36th Annual Varsity Letter Banquet will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 6:00 pm in the Copeland Field House at Milton High School (doors open at 5:30 pm). Please plan to join us as we honor our varsity letter winners and teams. The Banquet committee is currently seeking volunteers to plan this event.

2014 Annual Town Mtg – Day 4: Marijuana? No prob dude, Liquor license debated, Cluster bylaw revised, all budgets pass

Article 17, a $35K appropriation for a study of the DPW yard that had been ricocheting around town meeting for the last couple sessions was quickly dispatched with early last night. The Selectmen submitted the article but a motion had been made to have the study done by a committee appointed by the Town Moderator rather than the DPW director. Katie Conlon, Chair of the Selectmen, said the board respected the decision of Town Meeting and would work with the committee. She made a friendly amendment to have the funds spent by the committee, not the board. The amendment was accepted and the article passed.
