Mtg notes: Selectmen 05.08.14 – Hendries vote postponed, customer service at town hall

The Board of Selectmen met In a cramped room off the high school lobby in advance of Thursday’s town meeting session. In a decision likely to frustrate neighbors looking for some movement on Hendries, the board postponed the hearing regarding the demolition until they meet on the 20th, stating there wasn’t enough time given town meeting. Former Planning Board member Pete Jackson appeared and offered comments on the current status.

2014 Annual Town Mtg – Day 2: “E” vs “e”, about that leash law, and a standing vote

When it comes to Town Meeting, you never know what is going to trigger a vigorous discussion. At last Tuesday night’s session it was Milton’s leash law, whether or not to capitalize the word “enterprise” when referring to a fund, and a motion to deny an appropriation for studying the potential uses of the DPW yard that resulted in a standing vote. That last being Article 17, articles 6 – 16 all passed.

Fire Study Committee report available in advance of TM presentation

At tonight’s session of Town Meeting the committee appointed to study Milton’s Fire Department needs will be giving a presentation of their report. The committee, chaired by Town Meeting Member Steve Morash, is recommending that the existing fire houses be replaced with new up to date structures. They write:

Senator Joyce to Hold Milton Office Hours Monday, May 19

Senator Brian A. Joyce is pleased to announce that he will hold office hours in Milton on Monday, May 19th, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Baker Conference Room at the Town Hall, 525 Canton Avenue. “I encourage all interested constituents to attend my district office hours,” said Joyce.
