Interfaith Social Services operates one of the largest emergency food programs in Greater Boston. Their food pantry, counseling center and other assistance programs have been serving South Shore residents since 1947. Interfaith’s 41st Annual South Shore Walk/5K on April 25th raised over $25,000 for their programs to assist South Shore families in need.

FAA and Massport Webinar
The FAA/Massport and Logan Airport Citizen’s Advisory Committee (CAC) is holding a Webinar on Monday, May 18, 6-8pm on two proposed procedures to Runway 4L arrivals to Boston- Logan International Airport. The procedures involve RNAV (concentrated flight paths) approaches. One is an RNAV Visual Approach and the other is an RNAV GPS Instrument Approach.
2015 Annual Town Meeting – Day 3: Articles 31-37 pass; ~$41 million appropriated for schools; Savings plan to go to voters

At the end of Day 2 the Town Moderator expressed the hope that Town Meeting would wrap up last Thursday. That proved to be a bit optimistic. Two articles took up substantial amounts of time: Article 31 – the school appropriation and Article 37 which would petition the General Court to enable the town to put out a ballot question seeking approval to establish a special purpose stabilization fund for replacement or renovation of the fire stations and DPW yard.
Milton Jr. Women’s Club Grant Supports Children’s Programming at Milton Farmers Market
Annually the MJWC provides more than $10,000 in grants to local organizations and charities. Each year the club chooses one organization that they believe merits special attention. This year, the Milton Farmers Market is well deserving of this recognition.

Milton Bicycle Advisory Committee hosts Used Bike Sale and Community Ride to Celebrate Bike Month
The Milton Bicycle Advisory Committee invites the public to attend the Used Bike Sale on Saturday, May 16.
Held at the DPW Day Open House at 629 Randolph Avenue from 10 AM to 2 PM, the bike sale is an opportunity to get great deals on used bikes for the kids. Some bikes for adults will also be available, as well as safety tips, local bike maps, tubes and other bike accessories, and a free raffle for a gift certificate to Dave’s Bike Infirmary.
St. Mary of the Hills takes Field Trip!

On May 5th, the sixth grade class at St. Mary of the Hills School was treated to a special Duck Tour field trip for the second year in a row. The class earned the field trip after classmate, Xavier Welch of Milton, won first place in the annual Duck Tours Writing Contest early this year. Welch’s essay, titled, The Stamp Act Crisis: Fuel of the Rebellion, was chosen as a first place winner.
