Nominate a book! Milton Reads Open House, May 19th.

Calling all book lovers! Coming off of a successful fourth edition of Milton Reads, featuring The Boys in the Boat, we are now looking to increase community involvement. You can help by joining the committee or nominating a book for Milton Reads 2016.

For its fifth season, Milton Reads, the town-wide reading program, is calling for nominations of books to be considered for Milton Reads 2016.  All readers are invited to be part of the process.  We will begin accepting nominations of book titles on May 4th.  You’ll find a nomination box at the automatic checkout counter in the library, or you can email your nominated title(s) to miltonreads@outlook.com

Milton Reads will host an open house on May 19th at 6:30 PM upstairs in the Library Trustees Room. This is an opportunity for interested community members to get involved with the planning for Milton Reads. Anyone interested in participating in the Milton Reads committee, contributing programming ideas, or just learning about Milton Reads is welcome! Current committee members will be on hand for an informal conversation and presentation about the program.  All are welcome!

With nominated books in hand, the Milton Reads committee will do the heavy reading over the summer to generate the list of finalists.  Then, the public will be invited to vote for the book to be featured in Milton Reads.  Final voting will conclude on Election Day, November 3rd, and the selection for Milton Reads will be announced. Over the upcoming (mild) winter, folks can get started with their reading in time for the Milton Reads programming in March 2016.

Milton Reads is sponsored by the Friends of the Milton Public Library.
