If you’re around town this week and notice that the streets and parks seem to be cleaner, thank the over 400 Milton residents who came out for Milton Cleanup Day on May 2nd. Organized by Sustainable Milton in partnership with the Department of Public Works, the cleanup day is an annual event to help get our town ready for Spring.

Groups participating this year included five neighborhood associations, three girl scout troops, community organizations like the Milton Yacht Club, Junior Woman’s Club, and the Arts Center, as well as the Cunningham PTO and a large contingent from Curry College. Participants gathered in pre-determined locations across town, using supplies coordinated by DPW Director Joe Lynch, and went out in search of not so elusive trash.

By the end of the day scores of bags of trash and recyclables were gathered up to be collected by DPW crews, and some of the participating groups celebrated with barbecues and other gatherings, making sure all garbage and recyclables were neatly collected, of course.
