Dr. Dore Korschun, Principal of the Glover Elementary School, is leaving at the end of the year. She was feted at a recent event at the Glover. Here are some pictures of the festivities.

Media explosion in Milton

What is going on around here? Who knew Milton would become the media capital of the south shore?

Once upon a time there was the Milton Record-Transcript and then in the late 80’s or so, The Milton Times started up. And the Times is and has served as the paper of record for Milton. Then the internet happened, and it has finally come to Milton.

Milton designer Taniya Nayak is host of HGTV’s ‘Destination Design’

When Milton interior designer Taniya Nayak saw Hawaiian volcanic lava and tiki carvings, she did more than marvel. She used them as inspirations for choosing gray fireplace tiles and a decorative room divider that gave style to a living room and evoked vacation memories. (Read the full story here.)

Town to pursue Ulin Rink management

At their last meeting the Board of Selectmen voiced their intent to pursue a management of the Ulin Rink. The DCR has a deadline of June 1 for a response to an RFP that would grant a permit to the town to manage the rink for 5 years.

Forbes House Museum benefit is wicked funny (and raises money to)

The Museum’s annual benefit took place last night, Thursday, May 13th. Entitled Wicked Funny, everybody enjoyed a night of comedy by professional comedians Tony V and Milton ’s Kendra Cunningham.

“It’s great to laugh, to be with friends, to give local support, all right in our neighborhood,” said Mary Truslow, a long-time museum supporter.

D’Alessandro appoints campaign manager

Mac D’Alessandro, the Milton resident and  Democratic candidate for Congress from Massachusetts’ 9th district, has appointed Deborah Shah to be his campaign manager. Shah has been involved in a number or recent Democratic races that have resulted in victories.

MHS softball and baseball notch wins

Milton High baseball topped Norwood 3-2. A win that brought them closer to a South Sectional playoff spot.  (see Wicked Local story here.)

On Wednesday the girls softball team romped over Framingham 10-2. (see Wicked local story here.)

In other sports action, the Milton Girls track team come out on top of Dedham 99 – 32.

MBAC bike sale Saturday

In conjunction with the Open House at the DPW yard, the Milton Bicycle Advisory Committee will be holding its annual bike sale.

You can donate any used bikes at the DPW yard on Friday from 4:00 – 6:00pm or Saturday from 9:00 – 10:00am.

The sale takes place on Saturday, May 15th from 10:00 – 4:00. You are welcome to come by early Friday or Saturday to review the bikes available.
