The Museum’s annual benefit took place last night, Thursday, May 13th. Entitled Wicked Funny, everybody enjoyed a night of comedy by professional comedians Tony V and Milton ’s Kendra Cunningham.
“It’s great to laugh, to be with friends, to give local support, all right in our neighborhood,” said Mary Truslow, a long-time museum supporter.
This special event was chaired by Barbara Alavi with Candace Jans Aiello, Kai Armstrong, Shannon Desmond, Robin Putnum and Board Chair Mary Wendell. Espirit du Vin of Milton provided part of the reception with Deluca’s Market. And some comers took away winnings from the raffle, which included Red Sox Tickets, a necklace from Milton ’s Galatea jewelers, fancy wine, and a Key West vacation.
“We’re grateful for this support and involvement, which have enabled the museum to preserve its buildings and collections and reach out to our community,” explained Director Sullivan.
With the dynamic leadership of Director Christine M. Sullivan, over the last ten years, the museum has successfully reached out to all constituencies with its programming: preschool storytelling, lectures by scholars of the China Trade, Civil War discussion group, Fall Family Day, Holiday House Tour, school field trips, Antiques Appraisal Day, Lincoln Essay & Drawing Contest . . . and more.
Built in 1833 by a family prominent in the China Trade, the Forbes House has been a cultural jewel of Milton since its founding as a museum in 1964. The Forbes House Museum contains significant collections of 18th and 19th century art, decorative arts, and furnishings from America and from China . In addition, it holds one of the largest collections of Lincolniana in New England . It is open to the public for tours, and the beautiful grounds are open daily for free dawn ‘til dusk.
