A recent item in the New York Times recently identified Boston, Cambridge, Quincy as the safest walking city in the United States. They didn’t mention Milton but that’s because we are off the charts.

Service for Emily Ayre, Pierce Guidance Counselor

The Milton school community has suffered a loss with the recent passing of guidance counselor Emily Ayre. There will be a service for Ms. Ayre on Wednesday August 17, at the First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ 36 Main Street, New Milford, CT  06776. Donations in honor of Ayre can be sent to Camp Woodstock, 42 Camp Road, Woodstock Valley, CT 06282.

Fed dollars sought to finish Neponset Greenway trail

The latest news efforts to secure federal funding for the Neponset Greenway trail. This article from Dorchester Reporter includes map of extension that would go through Dorchester north of John Paul Park and connect through the gas tank property to Harborwalk. In addition funding would enable Central Ave in Milton to extend to Mattapan Square. You can find the story here.

57 incidents of potential bullying reported in school district

A year after the state passed legislation requiring schools to develop antibullying plans and train staff and students to report anything that could be incidents of bullying, Milton’s top school official said the number of reported incidents has increased. (Read the full story here.)

$10 million grant = 10 mile Greenway bike path

Some have worried it might never happen. Others would rather it didn’t but if the DCR wins a $10 million dollar federal grant the Neponset Greenway may run continuously from Pope John Paul Park to Hyde Park. The area under consideration would connect Central Ave in Milton with Mattapan Square.
