$10 million grant = 10 mile Greenway bike path

Some have worried it might never happen. Others would rather it didn’t but if the DCR wins a $10 million dollar federal grant the Neponset Greenway may run continuously from Pope John Paul Park to Hyde Park. And it may be hard for others still to understand where the money comes from given the country’s financial predicament; but be that as it may this October state officials will know whether this is a go.

The largest local hurdle has been determining how to allow the path to navigate through Mattapan. It will need to cross the trolley tracks and the MBTA has indicated that while they support the project they may require a bridge rahter than an at grade crossing due to safety concerns.
