The Milton Public Library will host jazz vocalist Peter Smith and his band on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2 PM for a free holiday concert. The Peter Smith Trio, featuring Yas Ishibashi on keyboards and Ralph Pepe on acoustic bass, will present a wonderful program of songs from the Great American Songbook plus some fun holiday tunes. Front-man Smith is equally adept at the swinging standards as he is delivering a soft ballad.

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton is now accepting applications for the hospital’s 2014 Boston Marathon Team. The marathon will take place on Monday, April 21, 2014. This will be the organization’s first ever marathon team and is expected to raise a minimum of $15,000 for the hospital.
Brockton woman dies from injuries in Milton crash
The driver involved in a rollover accident in Milton on Thanksgiving morning has died.
Yvonne Brown, 46, of 30 East Ashland St., Brockton, died at Boston Medical Center on Saturday from injuries she suffered in a single-car accident on Route 28, according to David Traub, a spokesman for the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office. (Read the full story here.)

Last month, we reported that residential housebreaks had dropped to “5” for the month of October. This was a 61% reduction. In November, this number fell to just “1” house break. This is very good news and comes as a result of diligent police work, informed citizens and a great amount of effort by both.

Each week during the high school football season the Gridiron Club, an organization of former Milton High Alumni Footballers and fans, come out to fuel-up the Wildcats before the game. Power Bars, fruit and Gatorade are provided in abundance, including fresh oranges for the halftime meeting.

The Milton School Committee will be meeting in the MHS library on Wednesday, December 4th at 7:00pm. The agenda includes but is not limited to Superintendent’s mid-cycle review and a discussion with the Milton Foundation for Education.
Milton Animal League Holiday Party
The Milton Animal League will be holding its annual holiday party on Sunday, December 15 from 2-4 pm at Cunningham Park Hall, 75 Edge Hill Rd Milton MA. A professional pet photographer will be available to take photos of pets with Santa Claus for a donation of $10 per photo. There will also be a tag sale with new and gently used items. All proceeds to benefit the Milton Animal League. All pets must be on leash and non-reactive toward people or other animals.
