Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton is now accepting applications for the hospital’s 2014 Boston Marathon Team. The marathon will take place on Monday, April 21, 2014. This will be the organization’s first ever marathon team and is expected to raise a minimum of $15,000 for the hospital.
The Boston Athletic Association, the host organization for the Boston Marathon, is no longer accepting qualified applicants to run the 2014 marathon, leaving a charity program one of the only ways to gain entry. Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton has 2 official entries available. Interested runners may apply for the team until Friday, December 6th or until the spots are filled. Applicants are encouraged to apply early for the greatest chance of obtaining a bib number. Each selected runner will be required to raise a minimum of $7,500. Those interested in running the Boston Marathon on behalf of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton can apply for the team at www.bidmilton.org/2014marathon.
Qualified entrants who have already secured their entry with the B.A.A are welcome and encouraged to apply for the team in addition to the 2 charity program runners. Qualified runners will be asked to raise $1,000 and will have access to the same benefits as the charity program runners.
“We are so grateful for this opportunity and look forward to working with the hospital’s first marathon team,” said President and CEO, Peter Healy, “Those chosen to run on behalf of Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton will raise funds to be used for the advancement of community based care.”
