Schools request $2.1 million increase in funding

The School Committee voted on a FY2015 budget at their meeting last Monday and presented it to the Warrant Committee Thursday. The FY15 budget weighs in at $39,674,142, an increase of $2,107,591 over FY14. Assistant Superintendent John Phelan presented the budget and explained the reasons for the increase.

Due to the Christmas Day Holiday on Wednesday 12/25/13 – There will be a one day delay in collections after Tuesday 12/24/13. Normal collections will occur on Monday 12/23/13 and Tuesday 12/24/13. There will be no collections on Christmas Day 12/25. Thursday, Friday and Saturday Collections will occur.

Major police presence in Quincy, Mass. neighborhood

Note – the following likely pertains to a notice on MPD Facebook page: “There is a mjaor police operation taking place on Quarry St. Quincy near Granite Ave in East Milton. Numerous police assets on scene. Quarry St., Furnace Brook Parkway have major sections closed affecting all traffic in the area.”

There appears to be an active police standoff in a Quincy, Mass. neighborhood Thursday evening. The standoff has been ongoing for several hours.
