Photo for the day 04.16.14
This not very good photo is interesting for two reasons: the snow and the ducks. When I looked out the window I was surprised to see both. This is spring and snow is an odd sight. While ducks are not odd at any time of year, they don’t generally hang around my neighbor’s driveway. Ah, New England.

from Wicked Local Milton
Preschoolers in Milton took part in “Brain Building in Progress Week” at the Trailside Museum on a rainy Tuesday. The children went on a “story walk,” where along a path there were stops to read each page of the children’s book, “Possum and Peepers.“ (Read the full story here.)

Jeff Bauman writes a letter to Boston
Jeff Bauman was a marathon bombing victim. The story of his recovery has been inspiring and his courage is emblematic of the too many others hurt that day. Yesterday, Josh Haner of the Times won a Pulitizer Prize for his photography documenting Mr. Bauman’s struggle and strength (photos here.) Today the Boston Herald published a letter from Mr. Bauman. He writes:
It’s been a year since the bombing at our marathon, and I’m sure there will be many articles written about it and testimonials given and pictures shown. I don’t know that I have much to add, except for the one important thing that needs to be said, and which I’m not sure others will get around to saying: Thank you.
You can read Mr. Bauman’s complete letter here.

Silence – Maried Dambruch, Maeve Doyle, Andrea Juzyca Sarah Monderer, & Caitlyn Murphy
Quiet souls, quiet minds
sung to sleep with lullabyes
hidden secrets hard to hide
Killing slowly from inside
only my words to hide behind
my voice I cannot seem to find
