Baby and Me Play Group

The Milton Early Childhood Alliance invites new Milton parents to attend our free five week Baby and Me Play Group series. These play groups will meet on Wednesdays from 9:30 to 10:30 AM beginning April 30th and continuing each Wednesday through May 28th in the First Congregational Church.

Free screening of “The Pin” at the Milton Library

Cong. Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills and the Boston Workmen’s Circle will co-sponsor a free screening of the 2013 Canadian film “The Pin” in the Keys Room of the Milton Public Library on Thursday, May 1st at 7:15 p.m.   The film is being shown in honor of Yom HaShoah/Holocaust Memorial Day, and it is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.  Doors open at 7:00 p.m., and a brief discussion will follow the film.

“Run Again” project to take field at Fenway

The Piece chorus students who recently recorded the tribute “We Will Run Again” will be taking field at Fenway Park early this early this evening just before the game. The students will be carrying banners across the field in advance of the first pitch as part of the Red Sox Marathon Remembrance. They pile on the buses this afternoon and will head off to an awesome experience. It’s great to see their touching tribute receive a warm welcome on such a large stage. Go Sox!

Dayspring: A Concert of Courage from Around the World

Fantastic Boston-area concert benefiting young survivors of the Rwandan genocide 20 years ago. Friday, May 2, 7:30 p.m. in Milton, MA. Live music and dance performances. Unique silent auction items. Dessert reception. Free parking. All proceeds benefit the Rwandan Youth Healing Center, a national charity in Rwanda.

Election 2014: Library Board of Trustee Candidates

There are five candidates running for three seats on the Library Board of Trustees. They are Edward Duffy, Sheryl Fleitman, John Folcarelli, Kristine Hodlin, and Frank Schroth. All the 3 seats are for three year terms. Following are the closing statements made by the candidates at the recent Milton Matters forum held at Fuller Village. Note, Mr. Folcarelli who could not attend, had his statement read by Chris Dsida of the Milton High School Debate team.

Town Hall notice: Absentee voting for annual town election

The Town Clerk would like to remind all registered voters that the 2014 Annual Town Election will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2014.

Over the counter Absentee Voting for the Annual Town Election is available and will continue through noon on April 28, 2014.

Granite Ave Committee dismisses hotel option

In a vote taken at their meeting on Tuesday night the Granite Avenue Study Committee agreed not to recommend a hotel development on as an appropriate use for the DOT lot that may be acquired by the town. The vote was the result of strong opposition from the neighbors who have been routinely attending the sessions and expressing their concerns.
