Make way for ducklings!!!

It happens every year, a mother and her children parade from the Glover outdoor classroom to Turner’s Pond, and it is always a wonder to watch. Dogwood Days at the Wakefield Estate!

Join us for Dogwood Days! June 8 – 14 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm DAILY at the Wakefield Estate, 1465 Brush Hill Rd, Milton, MA
Each June, the Wakefield Estate welcomes visitors to celebrate the annual blooming of hundreds of Polly Wakefield’s kousa dogwood trees. This year’s Dogwood Days celebrates our organization’s 10th anniversary and will include a week full of special events, including open hours, guided tours, our tree and plant sale and more. The grounds will be open daily for self-guided walks around the formal gardens where hundreds of kousa dogwoods will be at their peak bloom. Admission to all events is a $5 suggested donation. 

Residents invited to ‘green up’ the Blue Hills

All are invited to join the Friends of the Blue Hills for a spring festival of stewardship and fun. The annual Green Up Day will be held on Sunday, June 8, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at the Ponkapoag AMC Cabins. (Read the full story here.)

Fontbonne Academy graduates 74 girls

Rebecca Olivieri said she and the 73 other girls in Fontbonne’s Class of 2014, who received their diplomas Thursday night, had overcome many moments of fear, doubt and uncertainty over the past four years, leaving them better equipped for adulthood. (Read the full story here.)

Brief bits: Planning Board discusses condos; Selectmen mtgs to change; parking meters; & airplane noise

At the last meeting of the Planning Board they began a discussion of a bylaw to permit condominium developments in Milton. Chair Whiteside said the board has been approached by developers seeking to do condominium projects and that there are several properties where such a development may be appropriate. One being the St. Pious Property. The developer and his counsel, Ned Corcoran, were present to discuss their ideas.
