On Monday, May 19, the St. Mary of the Hills School faculty, students, and families welcomed the incoming principal, Mrs. Mary Carberry. The night began with a performance from the Step Squad team, followed by a welcoming from the Junior National Honor Society, Mrs. Pam Vasta, and Miss Shailagh Sinnott. Miss Sinnott introduced a Q&A video for Mrs. Carberry. The video featured two students from every grade (Pre-K through 8) whom came up with a question that they wanted to know about the new principal. Mrs. Carberry was quick on her feet to answer every question in front of her live audience! The Q&A video can be found here.
Families were also introduced to Jack Foley, who gave a short and enthusiastic presentation about the uniqueness of St. Mary of the Hills. The welcoming night was brought to a close as St. Mary’s Liturgical Dancers performed a spiritual dance for Mrs. Carberry to “My Redeemer Lives.”
The school is happy to have had the opportunity to meet Mrs. Carberry before she takes on her new roll on July 1, 2014. Mrs. Carberry taught at St. Mary of the Hills back in 1984, and is delighted to return to the Milton school. Carberry was the founding principal of Elizabeth Seton Academy in Dorchester. She is currently serving as the interim assistant principal at John F Kennedy Elementary School in Randolph, and teaches at Curry College as a professor in the Master of Education Program.
