On Sunday, May 18th, the St. Mary of the Hills community gathered together for the third annual Walk for Haiti. The Walk began 3 years ago when St. Mary’s students Jacob Martens, Janelle Saint-Eloi and Thalia Etienne returned from a leadership conference in Washington D.C.

A celebration to mark the end of another successful year for the Milton High music department took place May 19th at the high school with a pizza dinner sponsored by FAME (Friends and advocates for music education) and followed by an awards ceremony.
The Wildcat crew team had several boats in last week end’s Massachusetts Public School Spring State Championship Regatta. The weather was not their friend. Poor conditions caused delays and in some cases cancellations. But MHS prevailed over the weather and some of the other 1300 rowers that competed. Here are the results:
The Massachusetts Senate recently took final action on amendments to the 2015FY budget. The complete estimated local aid estimates (also known as cherry sheets) can be found here. Senator Joyce in a letter to Milton residents outlined amendments he prioritized and that will have an impact here in town.

The Massachusetts Senate passed a balanced budget that includes many of my priorities including tracking down and eliminating government overlaps and redundancy, paying down pension liabilities to save taxpayer money in the future, and supporting early childhood education, mental health and substance abuse treatment services, senior home care, and veterans’ services.
Not sure what happened here but it couldn’t be good. Other lights are working but be careful at intersection of Brook, Reedsdale, and Central.
You cannot do better than undefeated — which is what the Milton Wildcat Rugby team had until they met Brookline yesterday afternoon. Brookline wrote the season’s final chapter, defeating Milton 24-22 in a hard fought state championship game. It was a tough end to a tremendous season. Congratulations Wildcats on a tremendous season.

The Town of Milton Memorial Day Observance is scheduled for Monday, May 26, 2014.
The American Legion Post #114 will begin its program with the raising of the flag and the placing of the wreath at 9:30 a.m. at Town Hall.
