Milton Library Teen Book Club Announces August Selection

The Milton Public Library’s teen book club has selected Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi as its August pick.  “Ostracized or incarcerated her whole life, seventeen-year-old Juliette is freed on the condition that she use her horrific abilities in support of The Reestablishment, a post-apocalyptic dictatorship, but Adam, the only person ever to show her affection, offers hope of a better future.”

Milton photographers in Neponset Photography Exhibit

“Meet the Neponset: A Photography Exhibit of the Neponset River Watershed in Hyde Park” is an exhibit by area photographers of the Neponset River, Fowl Meadow, Mother Brook, and surrounding areas. Photos by Milton residents Tom Palmer and Lee Toma will be among the work displayed.

Senator Brian A. Joyce recently welcomed Ms. Wheelchair Massachusetts, Milton resident Rosa Angelica Colon, to the State House for a tour and introduced her on the floor of the Massachusetts Senate.

Rosa, a licensed attorney, works as an Assistant Clerk-Magistrate for the Boston Municipal Court. She is a former member of the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Women’s Issues, a former board member of La Alianza Hispana and current member of the Boston Chapter of Spinal Cord Injury Association. She will be competing for Ms. Wheelchair America in California this August.

Andrea Juzyca named to Ledger All-Scholastic: Girls Track

Andrea Juzyca was named to the Patriot Ledger All-Scholastic: Girls Track in a year that the Ledger reports may be the best outdoor all-scholastic team ever. Regarding Ms. Juzyca, they note “In less than a month, this 5-5 junior added 20 feet to her javelin toss en route to finishing third at All-States in 121 feet. That distance was the eighth best in the state this season.” You can find the entire list here,

Police value resident assistance in apprehending suspect in break-ins

Last week we reported news about a couple of break-ins in Town. Today, because of the keen observation and action of a Courtland Circle resident, a suspect is in custody for breaking into homes on Granite Ave and Riverside Ave. The resident observed a man twice this morning in her neighborhood.

Milton Rotary Brings Music to the Streets of Town

The weather was perfect Saturday morning, July 12, 2014 a string trio of Milton High School students Liezel Werner, Hannah Solomon, and Alice Truong play a selection of string music outside Starbucks in East Milton Square.

The School Committee will be meeting on Wednesday, July 16th in the Milton High School Library. The agenda includes but is not limited to an internal assessment data presentation, end of year report, assistant superintendent for curriculum and human resources appointment.
