Milton Rotary Brings Music to the Streets of Town

by Mike Maholchic

The weather was perfect Saturday morning, July 12, 2014 a string trio of Milton High School students Liezel Werner, Hannah Solomon, and Alice Truong play a selection of string music outside Starbucks in East Milton Square.

Milton Rotary sponsored this with the new Baron Hugo Music Series in honor of the former local band leader and Rotarian who donated the gazebo on the Town Green and was a long time supporter of the high school music program.

The students played classical works by W. A. Mozart and Tomaso Albinoni, a cover of Radioactive” by American rock band Imagine Dragons, as well as a special arrangement of “Happy Birthday to You” for former school superintendent Dr. Frank Giuliano who is turning, it appears, 39.  Dr. Giuliano was the inspiration for this series to help musically talented high school students.

The club plans to have two more days of music in the streets on July 19 and 26 from 9:30 to 11:30 AM.  The former will be in the Central Avenue business district, and the second will be back at Starbucks in East Milton Square.
