“Marathon” of school over, Milton grads told to seek their next challenge

Illustrated Talk – The Museum of American Bird Art

On Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 7 PM, Amy T. Montague, Director of The Museum of American Bird Art, will present an illustrated talk of its collection of artworks inspired by birds. The event will be held in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the Milton Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton.

Milton Garden Club (MGC) Grant Award Winners

Three winners were chosen in the Milton Garden Club’s first ever grant program, inwhich the 89-year old club awarded close to $1,000 for projects ranging from invasive plant control in the Blue Hills to a vegetable gardening project at the high school according to Rachel Wohanka, MGC Grant Awards Chairperson.

Wildlife is where you find it and Tom Palmer found this creature in the woods near 180 Blue Hill Ave. It is a jumping spider sitting on a fallen tree. Amazing, isn’t it?

MHS Bulletin for 06.03.13

We were recently reminded of this important source of info especially for high school parents. The bulletin is released daily and a great source of what’s happening up at the high school. It can also be found on the MPS web site.

Student Government: Attention all students running for a student government office for the 2013-2014 school year:  There will be a very brief, mandatory meeting TODAY after school in Room 121 for all candidates.  You must turn in a copy of your speech to Mr. Kelly or Mrs. Tom before the meeting.

Break-in Frothingham & Canton Ave neighborhood

A resident of the Frothingham & Canton neighborhood notified us that a break-in occurred in their area yesterday evening (Thursday) between the hours of 5:00 – 8:00PM. It is believed that the perpetrator entered through a window and exited through the front door.

DCR opens Houghton’s Pond for season

Each year, between Memorial Day and late June, DCR runs weekend-only schedules at many facilities until the full summer schedule begins. In the case of extreme heat at the end of this week, facilities that would be guarded on Saturday and Sunday will also be guarded on Friday.
