The quote is:

“What is a nice guy like you doing in a place like that.”

                           — from Alex Whiteside, Chair of the Planning Board to Bill Clark, Town Planner, upon learning of Mr. Clark’s upcomng attendence at a Board of Selectmen’s meeting.

There were a number of issues and event that mattered to Milton that took place. They included but were not limited to:

  • The MFE’s paid tribute to this year’s Teachers of the Year, a remarkable bunch that we should all be grateful to.
  • The annual Boosters sports banquet was held and you can view a great slide show of the event here. The slide show is courtesy of local sports photographer Roy Chambers.
  • The Board of Selectmen interviewed a number of candidates for open spots on the police force; what they did not take up but will discuss on the 6th is the comment letter regarding the 40B development on Brush Hill Road (i.e. Milton Mews). There were two site walks of the area yesterday (Saturday); one organized by Deborah Felton, executive director of Fuller Village, the other for town officials organized by Town Planner Bill Clark. Selectman Conlon and members of the Conservation Commission were expected to take part. Also notable regarding this issue is the passage by the Massachusetts senate of an amendment sponsored by Senator Joyce regarding any devleopment in the vicinity of Fowl Meadow.
  • Deanna Seymourian of the Milton Women’s Club informed us that a benefactor had been found for the mural in the Woman’s Club. The Ledger had a good follow up on this development that you can find here.
  • Milton observed Memorial day with laying of wreaths at Town Hall and the Cemetery, Sgt. Greg Kelly of Dorchester gave the key address and asked those present to “get involved” and reminded all present, especially the younger ones, that they only thing getting in the way of their dreams was themselves. You can view a slideshow of the day here.
