Update: The Stoughton proposals – Milton Town Farm not included

There is a lot of pent-up interest in the proposals that were recently submitted regarding the RFP put out by the Board of Selectmen for the Stoughton land or Poor Farm. Patience will be in order while the selectmen review the submissions. Missing from the submissions was any proposal from the group Milton Town Farm.

I am announcing my candidacy for Milton Library Trustee. The library is vital to the community and the cultural heart of the town. I am running for Milton Library Trustee to utilize my skills, experience, and passion to advance the mission of our library. If elected, I will contribute my energy, ideas, and support to the trustees and continue the work of offering our town a rich local repository of resources and information in all its forms, with free access for all.

School technology lags MA Tech Ed recommendations

A presentation on MPS web site by Bob Pattison, IT director for the Milton Public Schools, outlines several areas in which the schools are behind in allocation of techology resources relative to Massachusetts Tech Ed recommendations.

Deadline extended for purchasing Celebration for Education tickets

The Milton Foundation for Education has extended the ticket sales deadline for this year’s Celebration for Education until noon this Friday, April 1. According to Event Co-chair Astrid Hajjar, “Ticket sales have been fantastic so far – but I keep hearing from busy Milton parents that they just haven’t had the time to buy their tickets yet. This year’s celebration has a new theme – The Big Backyard Bash – and just the right mix of casual elegance and summertime fun we all could use after a long winter.

Boston Rugby comes to Milton!

Professional Rugby arrived at Milton High School on March 26, 2011. The Boston Rugby Football Club (BRFC) are playing their spring home games at Brooks Field Milton this season and won their first home game was against the New York Athletic Club of New York, known as Old Blue. Fontbonne celebrates the dramatic arts!

Congratulations to Mrs. Carol Emma-Fortier, Chairperson of the Fontbonne Academy Fine Arts Department, and the engine behind each and every Fontbonne Academy dramatic production for the past twenty years. To celebrate this career highlight, Mrs. Fortier hosted a reunion of all alumnae involved in the dramatic arts since the early 1980s. Alums were treated to a reunion in the cafeteria which was decked out in memorabilia from every show since 1981.

Muslims And Jews Wrestle With Zionism

Milton resident Jeff stone recently co-facilitated a discussion among Muslims and Jews about Zionism. As coverage on WBUR notes, “Among Muslims and Jews — even those who are close friends — there are subjects they just don’t discuss. Zionism and the Israeli-Palestinian fight for the same land are at the top of the list.”  You can find the WBUR story here.
