The governor has been this town’s most famous resident, and yet in the four years I have lived here, Central Avenue has been an embarrassment of a thoroughfare, an uneven patchwork of potholes and torn-up asphalt. Starting in January, the Friends of the Library Book Shop will open its doors on Sunday afternoons from 2-4pm. The shop continues to gain popularity with Milton readers who like a bargain. There are thousands of books and media on display, all donated by residents who keep their books in great condition.

First Day Hikes draw 1,000 to Blue Hills Reservation in Milton

More than 1,000 people turned out for the annual First Day Hikes in the Blue Hills Reservation, sponsored by the state Department of Conservation and Recreation. This is the 24th year of the hikes, which were started in the Blue Hills by Pat Flynn of Braintree in 1990 and have gone national.(Read the full story here.)
