In a letter dated December 31, 2014 to John Leaonard, Chair of the Board of Appeals, Aaron Gorstein of the Department of Housing and Community Development ruled that the town has failed to meet the burden of proof in its claim that 1.5% of geographic area has affordable housing. On behalf of the town Mr. Leonard sought DHCD approval for denial of a comprehensive permit for property at 711 Randoph Avenue to DHCD based on the town’s meeting the 1.5% criteria.

In reversal, Gov’t Study Committee votes to recommend expanding Selectmen to 5 members

Last night, the Government Study Committee, for the second time, took up the issue of submitting an article to Town Meeting to expand the Board of Selectmen from a 3-member board to 5. The issue, which had previously been voted down 5-4, passed by a vote of 7-2.
Lacrosse Information Night at Cunningham Hall tonight
Milton Lacrosse will be holding an information night at Cunningham Hall Tuesday January 6th 7-8 pm. It is an open house for any parent or player with questions about the upcoming season, equipment or registration. Registration for spring lacrosse is open NOW!
Hearing on East Milton restaurant commences; board jurisdiction fuzzy
On December 30th, the Milton Planning Board opened a hearing for site plan approval of a restaurant being proposed by the Falconi Companies at the site of the old Milton Cinema. Site plan approval is required of the board because the proposal is altering a building greater than 800 square feet. The renovation includes adding windows that were not previously there. As Jeanne Schmidt Falconi noted in her introductory remarks, “One new window is the only reason we are here tonight.”

Friends are helping Youth Hockey’s Phil Zona and you can too
Phil Zona is a longtime Milton resident and board member of Milton Youth Hockey, a tremendous program that has served thousands of children over the years. Phil recently suffered a significant injury at home. His friends are banding together to provide some financial support for Phil and his family during his recovery.
