Wakefield Charitable Trust presents three lectures on the history of the land and occupants of what is today known as the Wakefield Estate, named after its most recent occupant, Mary (“Polly”) Wakefield. The lectures will highlight the origin and evolution of one of Milton’s founding families as a microcosm of Milton’s 350 year history.

Cheryl Tougias has announced her candidacy for a seat on the Milton Planning Board and seeks your vote on April 24th.

“This important board is charged with land use decisions that help preserve the character of the town and shape its future. I would like to add my considerable experience as an architect, my commitment to historic preservation and my interest in sustainable design to the mix of skills on this very critical town board,” said Tougias.

A summary of the Stoughton Proposals

In 1701 there was a Milton, but there was no United States. There were no planes, trains, or automobiles, no internet, no stock market. Milton had no areas of commerce to speak of. All that would come with time. But Milton did have something then that is still with us today.

Public outcry postpones Trustees vote on Town Farm

There was nothing to indicate that last night’s meeting of Trustees of the Governor Stoughton property would go smoothly.  The trustees were scheduled to vote to approve one of five proposals submitted in response to an RFP on development of the property commonly known as the Town Farm.  Getting to this point has been a long and arduous process for the trustees. Public sessions have historically be contentious and last night was no exception.
