Cheryl Tougias has announced her candidacy for a seat on the Milton Planning Board and seeks your vote on April 24^th.

“This important board is charged with land use decisions that help preserve the character of the town and shape its future. I would like to add my considerable experience as an architect, my commitment to historic preservation and my interest in sustainable design to the mix of skills on this very critical town board,” said Tougias.

Tougias seeks to bring balanced, thoughtful decision making to the Planning Board and be pro-active in the development of the following tools:

• Master plan that brings together diverse interests for a shared vision

• Design guidelines that aid in shaping building and site character

• Rules and regulations that support a timely review process

Tougias, a registered architect, is a founder and principal of Spalding Tougias Architects, Inc., a Boston based firm that has been creatively meeting the design needs of clients nationwide for the past 20 years. Tougias is professionally affiliated with the Urban Land Institute and New England Women In Real Estate. She holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree from Columbia University. Tougias has a demonstrated commitment to the community. She is a board member of Artspace Milton, serves on the Warrant Committee and is a Town Meeting member from Precinct 9. Tougias lives on Canton Avenue along with her husband George and their two children who are enrolled in the Milton Public Schools.
