Special Town Meeting / Annual Town Meeting 5/2

There will be a Special Town Meeting on 5/2 to take up an article regarding authorization of a liquor license for a restaurant proposed to go in at the Fallon Ambulance location.

This will be followed by Annual Town Meeting which will review and vote on 43 articles most of which pertain to town budget and finances. Article 36 is a zoning change which is essentially an update of an article passed at the last town meeting regarding height restrictions of accessory structures. DCR to hold public hearing re: riverfront improvements to Neponset Park

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, May 3, to discuss a proposal to increase public access to the Neponset River at Neponset Park in Dorchester. DCR will present information about a recently awarded DCR Partnerships Matching Funds Program grant to the Friends of Milton Crew to enhance public access to the river by improving the infrastructure at Neponset Park. DCR is contributing $36,000 and the Friends of Milton Crew are contributing $18,000 toward the project. Neponset Park is along the Neponset River in Dorchester, just east of Granite Avenue. Parent 411 to offer workshop on Communication in the Family

Paretn 411 is offering a workshop, Communication in the Family. This workshop is for parents who are looking for ways to affirm the dignity and humanity of both parents and children. “Good communication provides a healing touch in time of trouble.” It also allows parents express their own anger without hurting either the child or the relationship. If you are tired of yelling , feeling disrespected and misunderstood and looking for positive ways to have a more harmonious, loving and supportive relationship with your child , you will find many strategies to build such a relationship.

The workshop consists of 4 sessions (ay 3, 10, 17, & 24) from 7:00-8:30.  Parent411 is located at the InSync Center for the Arts at 550 Adams Street.

Gordon Steps Down from Library Foundation

Gordon, a founding member of the Milton Library Foundation, has decided to step down from the library’s fundraising arm. She will continue to hold a position on the library’s board of trustees. Emma Drew a Eastern Mass League All-Star; Renz top Milton finisher in marathon

Milton High School Hockey stand out Emma Drew was named an Eastern Massachusetts league All-Star for the Bay State Conference by the Boston Herald. You can find the complete list of all-stars here.

Justin Renz was the top Milton finisher in the Boston marathon with a time of 2:43:17 – Whoa! Matthew Simonson finished in 2:57::02 and Michael Lamoureux had a time of 3:10:41.
