Lt. Murray interviewed on the Brian A. Joyce Report
On Friday, May 6th, Senator Brian A. Joyce interviewed the Lieutenant Governor, Timothy Murray, for his local cable show, the Brian A. Joyce Report. The taping took place at Fuller Village in Milton. From left: Fuller Village Director Deborah Felton, Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray, State Senator Brian A. Joyce, and Senator Joyce’s father Gerry Joyce, who is a resident of Fuller Village.

Milton man tackles escapee outside Quincy District Court

A Milton man tackled a would-be escapee Friday outside Quincy District Court.
Eric Abdon, 28, of Milton was working as an electrical apprentice across the street from Quincy District Court when Christopher Maffie, 26, tried to escape, authorities said. (Read the full story here.)
A GOOD AGE: Strutting their stuff at Quincy Senior Olympics

The 29th annual Quincy Senior Olympics launched Monday evening with a fast-paced sign of the times: two fit, muscular men in their 70s breezing by like 40- or 50-year-olds in the 1-mile walk. “Close but no cigar,” George F. Mallett, 74, of Hingham, a retired State Police officer, said as he finished second in the 1-mile walk, 8 seconds behind the winner, Don Murray, 76, of Milton, whose time was 12 minutes and 13 seconds. Murray, a retired Boston police officer, has won the event for years. (Read the full story here.)
Mtg notes: Plan’g Brd 05.05.11 – Developer responds to Hendries zoning issues
The developer of the Hendries site, Steve Connelly, appeared at the last Planning Board meeting along with attorney Bill McDermott and architect Warren Daniel. The entire session was given to the Hendries development and Mr. Connelly and his team were present to respond to a series of issues with the development that did not conform or comply with current zoning. At the previous Planning Board Planning Board member Alex Whiteside had identified 25 items of concern.
Milton woman critically injured in Route 24 crash

A Milton woman was in critical condition Tuesday following an accident in which her car rolled off the road on an on-ramp to Route 24 in Bridgewater. (Read the full story here.)
Derby Day the Forbes House Way
The Forbes House Museum hosted a Derby Day fundraiser last Saturday at Prowse Farm and not all the thunder or all the rain was going to dampen the spirits of those who attended.

The Milton Police reported the following:
Milton Detectives arrest a Brockton man in East Milton today for trafficing oxycodon. Crime suppression efforts today led to the arrest of an individual who had over 120 oxy tablets in his possession. He will be arraigned in Quincy District Court tomorrow….
The Governor goes to Glover . . . & he walked!
Yesterday the Governor walked around Turner’s Pond on his way to the Glover Elementary School. He was participating in Massachusetts Wald & Bike to School Day. This special day is part of the Commonwealth’s Safe Routes to School Program which promotes walking and bicycling to school in order to improve student’s health, reduce traffic congestion and keep the air cleaner.
