A GOOD AGE: Strutting their stuff at Quincy Senior Olympics

The 29th annual Quincy Senior Olympics launched Monday evening with a fast-paced sign of the times: two fit, muscular men in their 70s breezing by like 40- or 50-year-olds in the 1-mile walk. “Close but no cigar,” George F. Mallett, 74, of Hingham, a retired State Police officer, said as he finished second in the 1-mile walk, 8 seconds behind the winner, Don Murray, 76, of Milton, whose time was 12 minutes and 13 seconds.
