Milton Town Clerk, Susan M. Galvin, is announcing that Nomination Papers for both Town Wide and/or Town Meeting Members are available through March 10, 2015. Ms. Galvin would like to encourage all residents to consider running for office. “Citizen participation in Town government is essential to providing the residents of Milton with clear access to our Town government.”
Boston’s Cycling Craze, Presented at the Milton Library
During the late 19th century, the popularity of bicycles for sport grew dramatically, and Boston
played a major role in that early era of cycling. Author Lorenz J. Finison shares the history of
those times when he presents his book Boston’s Cycling Craze, 1880?1900: A Story of Race,
Sport, and Society, at the Milton Public Library, on Sunday, March 1, at 2pm.
Teen Creative Writing Workshop with YA Author Julie Berry Snow Date
On Monday, March 2 at 6 p.m., the Milton Public Library will host a creative writing workshop led by Julie Berry for local teens which was snowed out on February 9 and rescheduled to this new date in March. Young adult author Julie Berry will discuss storytelling and her new YA novel The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place just released this past fall.
MBTA police tie big rise in thefts to one thief

Brief bits: Town officials decline to appeal 40B ruling; Superior Court hearing 5 cases related to Thayer

Town officials have decided not to appeal a recent ruling by the Department of Housing and Community Development. The town had sought approval that it met its affordable housing requirement, citing that the town had at least 1.5% of its geographic area had housing at an affordable level. The DHCD did not agree that the town met the requirement. Neither did John Flynn, Town Counsel.
