Yesterday, the Boston Public Library held a ribbon cutting for the first phase of the library’s redesign. The children’s room, teen space, and nonfiction collections received a complete makeover. Milton resident Sindu Meier, who was the project manager for the architecural firm William Rawn Associates, which led the design effort, was on hand to celebrate the event. WBUR described the new space as “sleek, colorful, mod, with lots of sunlight streaming in.”
Frustrated, official quits Milton panel
The Boston Globe has coverage of Ed Duffy’s resignation from the Milton Planning Board:
Longtime Milton Planning Board member Edward Duffy has resigned from the board, two months before his term was due to expire.
“I had enough of it,” Duffy said last week about his Feb. 12 surprise announcement. He said he was frustrated by the board’s failure to deal with what he perceived as potential traffic problems in East Milton from a proposed new restaurant on Adams Street. “It’s going to be wild,” he said. Senator Joyce and Selectman Keohane provide updates on storm relief and progress
Senator Joyce sent out the following earlier today:
I write today to give you an update on snow removal in our town. According to the Blue Hill Observatory, we have had the snowiest January and February since 1886, as well as the greatest snow depth at the Observatory since 1895. We have been faced with several back to back snow storms, with more bad weather expected Sunday, and I’d like to commend town officials and workers for an extraordinary effort on our behalf.

Mtg notes: Selectmen 02.13.15 – DPW director criticized & thanked; Ulin rink rate increase; developer granted access thru DPW yard
by Frank Schroth
The recent weather is fraying nerves and creating some stress. Some of that erupted at Citizens Speak last Wednesday night when Town Meeting Member Sheryl Fleitman presented a series of complaints about snow clearing operations in the area of Essex and Crown streets. She said the DPW director was “vindictive” and “untrustworthy” at which point Chair Conlon cut her off and said personal attacks would not be allowed.
