Police help reunite Milton teen with lost phone

With an assist from technology, police were able to quickly reunite a Milton teen with her missing iPhone.

Hingham Police Sgt. Steven Dearth said Patrol Officer Nicholas Smith went to the Apple Store at the Derby Street Shoppes at 5:30 p.m. Sunday to speak to a 17-year-old Milton girl about her phone, which she said was lost or stolen. (Read the full story here.)

MPD note – no school Weds 1/22 and stay off roads

According to the Milton Police Department Facebook page there is no school tomorrow – Wednesday 1/12/14. Also, please stay off of the roads if at all possible. There was gridlock earlier this evening on Rt 28/Randolph Ave due to snow and challenges equipment operators had clearing the roads. Please cooperate and stay safe.

MHS Debate team competes at national level

The Milton High School Debate Team is developing a reputation as a tough competitor on a national level. Two members of the team, Chris Dsida and Jack Caljouw, went as far as the quarter finals in the recent Lexington Winter Invitational. The tournament, known informally as Big Lex and one of the largest in the country, draws hundreds of debaters from as far as Florida and is a qualifier for the National Tournament of Champions.

Boys basketball rallies past Milton

Brief bits: Planning Brd reviews articles; Henry blue spruce; Kelly’s frustration; Granite Ave Committee holds up

At the most recent meeting of the Planning Board local attorneys Bob Sheffield and Ned Corcoran met to discuss proposed articles for annual Town Meeting. Both attorneys frequently represent clients before the Planning Board. Articles included but were not limited to penalties for zoning violations, medical marijuana dispensaries, amending zoning law related to non-conforming lots, and revising cluster zoning bylaw.

St. Michael’s Parishioners Lend a Hand in New Orleans

Eleven Milton residents are headed to Louisiana for St. Michael’s Episcopal Church’s 6th Annual Mission Trip to New Orleans. From January 25 through February 1, the group will volunteer at St. Paul’s Homecoming Center which helps rehabilitate houses, and Loaves and Fishes which provides relief to those experiencing hunger.
