Congressman Lynch Nominates Denis Glinski of Milton for Appointment to the U.S. Military and U.S. Air Force Academies

Congressman Stephen F. Lynch recently announced that he has nominated Denis Glinski of Milton for appointment to the United States Military Academy and the United States Air Force Academy.  Denis, the son of Edward Glinski and Denise Kenneally, is a graduate of Boston College High School and currently a student at the University of Massachusetts, Boston.

Middle School Students Record Marathon Anthem “I Will Run Again”

Milton Pierce Middle School students will visit Keep the Edge Studios in Quincy on March 25, 2014 to record the marathon anthem, “I Will Run Again” as part of The Run Again Project. The project is a letter writing campaign from school children to the runners of the 2014 Boston Marathon. The song is a motivational tribute to the runners composed by Kathleen Ready of Westwood. The song will be made available as a free download at The Run Again Project web site.

Bob Halloran and New Book on Bulger Murders

Bob Halloran wrote about Debbie Davis’s murder from her family’s viewpoint in his new book, Impact Statement:  A Family’s Fight for Justice against Whitey Bulger, Stephen Flemmi, and the FBI. Hear his talk on Tuesday, April 8 at 7 p.m. in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the Milton Library, 476 Canton Avenue in Milton. 

Jeremy Lyons to perform at MAC

Years ago Jeremy Lyons quit his day job as a French Quarter street musician to become a favorite in New Orleans night clubs. After a few years he began to miss the families and kids that enjoyed the open-air street performances, and he began singing for his daughter and her friends on the porch, and made appearances in classrooms in New Orleans.

Reminder: Healthy Milton Roundtable

As part of the Master Plan process the Healthy Milton Roundtable will be held on March 25, 2014 from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m at the Tucker School. The purpose of the Roundtables is to invite experts and others working on related efforts to participate in developing strategies for addressing key issues identified in the planning process.

Scene and Heard Playwriting Workshop

Screen Shot 2014-03-24 at 11.17.14 AMOn Wednesday March 12th, six of Milton’s high school students learned about the basics of playwriting at the first of two playwriting workshops. The workshops are the beginning of the playwriting project, Scene and Heard. Scene and Heard consists of the two introductory workshops to teach participants the basics of playwriting and generate some ideas.

Registration open at Learning Circle Preschool

Learning Circle PreschoolLearning Circle Preschool, a non-profit school for preschoolers and kindergarteners ages 2.9-7, is now accepting registrations for the 2014 Summer Science and Arts program.

The program lasts six weeks, June 9-July17, 8:30-12:30 Monday-Thursday. There are both two day and four-day options.
