Taniya Nayak, the home interior guru who serves as a designer-host on HGTV as well as Food Network’s “Restaurant: Impossible,” will join more than 10,000 women, including Lowe’s Heroes from across the country, to volunteer at Habitat for Humanity construction sites in recognition of National Women Build Week, May 3-11. Now in its seventh year, National Women Build Week challenges women to devote at least one day to help build affordable housing in their local communities.

Wotiz Gallery to feature work by Chuck Sullivan
During the month of May, the Milton Public Library will host local painter Chuck Sullivan in the Wotiz Gallery. When Mr. Sullivan painted his first still life at the age of 43, he realized that he made a terrible mistake in trying to fulfill other’s hope for his life. In that moment, he found his place in the world and began to understand the need, the calling, and the passion to paint.
DCR Traffic Advisory: Unquity Road Maintenance
WHAT: Beginning Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 7:00 p.m. until 4:00 a.m., the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will be conducting road maintenance along Unquity Road in Milton. To assist with this project, Unquity Road will be closed, and detours will be set up to Hartland Street in Milton. The work will continue on Friday and Sunday during the same overnight timeframe.

At last Tuesday’s session of the Board of Selectmen the board and Brian McDonough, attorney for Carrick Realty agreed on one thing: the two buildings they respectively own that together are the Hendries plant need to come down at the same time. That is about all they agree on.

Sadly, the building that housed the Milton Woman’s Club is no more. By tomorrow afternoon this will likely be an empty construction lot. Some houses will go up and some folks will move in and memories will fade. But something had to happen.
