I want to express my sincere thanks to all who supported my campaign and to those who came out on a very un-Spring like day to vote.

Being elected to office in a race that was as strongly contested as this one reflects a public trust that is humbling.

Brief bit: Selectmen agree to another Hendries extension

At last Tuesday’s meeting of the Board of Selectmen members Hurley and Conlon voted to give Carrick Realty, owners of the Hendries building, until yesterday to work with the town’s retained counsel and building inspector to come to agreement on plan for taking down the Hendries building. This was granted with the understanding that “substantial” progress would be made on the issue.

Pine Tree Brook Assoc to hold clean up 5/3

Pine Tree Brook Neighborhood Association is holding their annual Clean up this Saturday, May 3. At 8am at the Gile Road bridge that spans Pine Tree Brook, neighbors will be serving “Breakfast by the Brook” including coffee, juice, bagels and more to fuel the work to be done.

Milton View Board of Health, Library Trustees, and Town Meeting Endorsements

There are two candidates for a 1 year term and both offer good backgrounds for the Board.  Laura Richards is an Attorney specializing in Public Health Law, and works with the Massachusetts Association of Health Boards. The Association assists local Boards of Health in meeting their statutory obligations.  Cindy Christiansen is on the faculty of the Boston University School of Public Health where she teaches statistics and works on research in the Public Health field. Mtg notes: Selectmen 04.22.14 – Habitat survey of town farm approved

At their last meeting the Board of Selectmen agreed to a request from the Conservation Commission to conduct a habitat survey of the town farm as part of a peer review the Commission would conduct of a study being done by New England Environmental, Inc. The issue is determining if there are any rare or endangered species (e.g spotted salamanders, lady slippers) that would be damaged by the work Pulte is doing.

A Farewell in the Making: Emma Jean Moulton to Retire as Organist and Choir Director at First Parish in Milton, UU

After 28 years of dedicated and gifted service to First Parish in Milton, UU, beloved musician, Emma Jean Moulton, has announced her retirement in June 2014.  Ms. Moulton, in her letter to the congregation, said her “music ministry at First Parish has been, over the years, very fulfilling musically and spiritually, but the time has come for me to sit back and enjoy hearing others play the organ and lead the voices of the Meetinghouse Choir.”
