3rd Annual Taste of Dorchester

The 3rd annual Taste of Dorchester will take place on Thursday, 4/28th at the IBEW Hall from 6:00 – 8:30. While not in Milton, it features many eating establishments Miltonites favor including Flat Black, The Ashmont Grill, Tavolo and the Ledge. The event benefits the Massachusetts Affordable Housing Alliance. Advance cost is $35 (visit their web site) or $40 at the door. Oh, and the Ice Creamsmith will be there too!

The Romance of Tea

The Milton Historical Society Annual Dinner will be held Thursday, May 19, 2011 starting at 6:00 PM at the Neighborhood Club of Quincy, 27 Glendale Road, Quincy.

After an absence of many years, we are bringing back for your listening pleasure the witty, charming and informed Henry T. Callan whose topic is “The Romance of Tea.”

Special Town Meeting / Annual Town Meeting 5/2

There will be a Special Town Meeting on 5/2 to take up an article regarding authorization of a liquor license for a restaurant proposed to go in at the Fallon Ambulance location.

This will be followed by Annual Town Meeting which will review and vote on 43 articles most of which pertain to town budget and finances. Article 36 is a zoning change which is essentially an update of an article passed at the last town meeting regarding height restrictions of accessory structures. DCR to hold public hearing re: riverfront improvements to Neponset Park

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, May 3, to discuss a proposal to increase public access to the Neponset River at Neponset Park in Dorchester. DCR will present information about a recently awarded DCR Partnerships Matching Funds Program grant to the Friends of Milton Crew to enhance public access to the river by improving the infrastructure at Neponset Park. DCR is contributing $36,000 and the Friends of Milton Crew are contributing $18,000 toward the project. Neponset Park is along the Neponset River in Dorchester, just east of Granite Avenue. Forbes House to host 1st Annual Victorian Egg Hunt

The 1st Annual Victorian Egg Hunt will take place on the grounds of the Forbes House Museum on Saturday, 30 April 2011 from 1-3pm. Children ages 3- 8 are welcome to this special event, where hundreds of eggs will be hidden on the east and west lawns of the Museum.

Fuller Village White Elephant and Craft Fair

Come to Fuller Village for some deals and steals!

Visit the White Elephant Table and find household goods, decorative items, boutique furnishings and other treasures. At the Knitters Table you will find knit children’s clothing, baby afghans, Spring décor, and doll outfits. The evenet takes place Saturday, April 30th from 10am till 2pm in the Function Room at 1372 Brush Hill Rd.

Dorchester: A Comendium, book signing and lecture by Anthony Sammarco

Dorchester: A Compendium by Anthony M. Sammarco will be published this month by The History Press.

A kick off lecture and book signing will be held at the Joseph Healey Library (4th Floor) at the University of Massachusetts,
100 Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester, MA. This event is sponsored by the Archives & Special Collections at the University.

Milton PTOs to host candidate’s night

There is another opportunity to meet the candidates running for town wide office. The Milton PTOs have joined together and will be hosting an event at the Cunningham / Collicot School on Tuesday 4/12 at 7:00. Candidates for selectmen, Cemetary Board of Trustees, Assessor, and Library Board of Trustees have all been invited.
