The Milton Garden Club will hold its Perennial and Compost Sale on the Milton Public Library Lawn on Saturday, May 7, 2011 from 8:00 to 10:00 am, rain or shine.
The treasures for sale include perennial plants from member gardens and other distant nurseries specially selected to thrive in Milton’s environmental conditions and to re-bloom year after year. Milton Garden Club members will be available to answer questions about perennials and to provide gardening advice. Bleeding hearts, herbs, May apples, sedum, and unusual varieties of hostas will be among the perennials for sale.
Premium aged organic cow compost in 40 pound bags is also available for pick up at the sale if pre-ordered by April 28, 2011. Advance compost orders may be placed by sending a check issued to the Milton Garden Club for $6/bag to MGC, 104 Canton Avenue, Milton, 02186 by April 28th. Only a few bags of this high quality compost will be available at the sale so please order in advance to guarantee your reservation.
The Perennial and Compost Sale helps the club support its town scholarship and three Milton gardens for the public to enjoy. The three gardens are the historic Spalding Garden (in restoration), the Lily Corner at the intersection of Brook Road and Canton Avenue, and the tulip and perennial garden at the Milton Public Library. In addition, members fill town planters with seasonal color and maintain the horse trough diagonally across from the library.
Please come early for the best selection of perennials as our plants do sell quickly!
