MHS Bulletin for 11.19.08

  • The next Group Guidance session will be on Thursday at 7:50 am. We will follow a “C” schedule that day. Seniors in Group 12A must report to the library immediately upon arrival to school for their fourth session of Group Guidance. At the same time, Mrs. Cove’s seniors in Group 12B will meet for Library Lab.
  • Attention Juniors: Pep Rally T-Shirts are for sale this week at all three lunches. Cost is $12. Please see a class officer or Mrs. Damiani with any questions.
  • Attention Juniors: If anyone wants to participate in spirit week events and did not si, please see Mrs. Damiani today.
  • Attention Seniors: Don’t forget to submit your favorite candid photo’s to the Facebook page “Candids 09″… Submit your Fall Fling photo’s asap!
  • Winter Sports sign-ups in the Athletic Director’s Office through November 25.
  • Attention Seniors: Any senior who is interested in taking the AFL-CIO Scholarship Exam on February 4, 2009 must sign up in the guidance office. All students signing up will be required to complete an application and pick up a study guide.

MHS Bulletin for 11.05.08

  • Today, Juniors in Group 11A will meet in the Library for their first session of Group Guidance.  Juniors are also advised to check the green lists posted by the main office, guidance, and in the cafeteria for their group numbers. All those in Group 11A must report to the Library promptly at 9:22.  Ms. Bernard’s Group 12A will meet for Library Lab.
  • What a week in the United States!  Thank you to all who voted in our Mock Presidential Election.  Barack Obama won 78% of the votes in our historic election experience. We had a 31% voter turnout, with Juniors having a 40%. Our results for all the questions and further information is posted in the front hall and in the bulletin case in the Humanities wing.  Good job for showing your civic pride!

  • Spanish Club Meeting this Thursday immediately after school to discuss our upcoming November activities.  Meeting will be brief but important!
  • We still have spaces left for Spain travelers.  See K. Kelley in room 229.  Come share other cultures and see the world!!!
  • Attention Freshmen:  Buy your Shirts for Spirit Week!  Order them from Summer Graham or Brenda Garcia today or tomorrow.  $10 each.  Show your Freshman spirit!!
  • Hear ye!  Hear ye!  The Echo is accepting poems, stories, and artwork for our first issue of the year.  Put your words or pictures in the lovely envelopes in your English classes.
  • GYPSY tickets are now on sale in the main office. You absolutely do not want to miss this blockbuster musical starring your classmates! The show is November 7 and 8 and student tickets are $7. Get them today!

MHS Bulletin for 10.10.08

  • Attention seniors….If you have college applications with November 1st deadlines you must turn in your transcript request forms and envelopes to Guidance ASAP !
  • Any member of the French Club that wants to buy a t-shirt, see Jill Hayward, Brittany O’Rourke, or Kassi Stein asap.  There will also be a sign-up sheet in room 306 for sizes.
  • ATTENTION SENIORS: You must choose your Senior Portrait for the yearbook by October 20th. If you do not submit your choice by this date, one will be chosen for you.
  • Anyone still interested in volunteering for the Japanese Exchange we can still use a few more volunteers. Please see KKelley, room 229 by the end of the day today.

  • Seniors: We have posted the last two Scholarships: The Boosters Scholarships for varsity athletes (deadline: May 16) and the Milton Garden Club ($1,000) Scholarship (deadline: May 16). Pick up applications in guidance.
  • Students taking Advanced Placement exams are reminded that they must bring a #2 pencil and a ballpoint pen on the day of their test. Cell phones are NOT allowed in the testing room. Students who arrive late will NOT be allowed to sit for the exam. NO EXCEPTIONS. All students will report to the Library for testing except for the following: Music Theory: Superintendent’s conference room (206). Students taking AP Exams are expected to attend school the full day.
  • If you are attending the Junior Prom on Friday, you must be in school the entire day.
  • Juniors who purchased Prom tickets may pick up tickets in Ms. Croce’s room before school, after school, or during activity period Wednesday or Thursday. You must sign a contract when you pick up tickets.
  • Attention Seniors: Your caps and gowns are here! You will receive them at the senior breakfast but it’s important to pay for them as soon as possible. The price is $20 for the next 2 weeks. Please pay Ms. McDonough in Room 118 as soon as you can before the price goes up. Cash or check. Make checks payable to MHS.

These will be in the Superintendent’s conference room (206). Students taking AP Exams are expected to attend school the full day, and will only be excused from classes missed which take place during their exam.

  • Students taking the SAT I/II tomorrow must bring two #2 pencils, their admission ticket, a photo ID, and a calculator. Students will be admitted to the building at 7:45 am. Please check your admission ticket for the test center; some MHS students may have been assigned to test sites other than MHS.

  • Senior Prom tickets will be on sale beginning Monday, May 5th before and after school in Ms. Diegoli’s room (116). The last day to buy tickets will be Friday, May 16th. Tickets are $50 per person.
  • Scholastic Honors Night originally scheduled for Thursday, May 8 has been postponed. The new date is Wednesday, May 21. All students who have been invited are asked to advise your parents of this date change.
  • Extra books??? The National Honor Society will be holding a Book Drive May 5 through May 9 (M-F). There will be a bin in the front office to drop off any new or used books. Donations will go to the children and mothers of St. Mary’s homeless shelter and their education center in Dorchester. Both children’s and adult books would be appreciated. Please see Mr. Cooper with any questions. Thank you.
